Professional Experience

Susan’s practice focuses on complex litigation, including product liability, toxic tort, and commercial litigation. She joined Ongaro Burtt & Louderback LLP after spending more than a decade with Jones Day’s Washington D.C. and Bay Area offices. Her experience includes successfully defending IBM in a five-month jury trial in the In re IBM San Jose Workers' Litigation filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court on behalf of more than 45 employees alleging personal injury claims due to chemical exposure in the workplace. Susan also helped defend IBM in multiple civil actions filed by more than 150 plaintiffs in New York state court alleging that workplace exposures caused cancer and other diseases in IBM employees or birth defects in their offspring. Susan's extensive pretrial experience includes overseeing discovery and motion practice and working with experts in many areas, including industrial hygiene, laboratory analysis, chemistry (as it pertains to semiconductor technologies and manufacturing processes), computational fluid dynamics, toxicology, and medical causation.
